On Monday 20 April, we performed at the Sense Theatre in Dokkum for the Royal Family. This King’s Day concert was attended by members of the public involved in organising the King’s Day celebrations in Dokkum. The theme was ‘home’ – not in the sense of a fixed address, but as a feeling that moves and travels with you.

The programme featured performances by Frisian artists Nynke Laverman and Sytze Pruiksma, Broken Brass, Mayte Veenstra, Simone Lamsma, and Jonathan Fournel. We had the pleasure of performing with countertenor Arturo den Hartog, who sang a Surinamese traditional song, and with the dancers from OFF Project. Following a performance by the vocal quartet Cantorías, the evening concluded with a joint performance.

nteresting to know: the King’s Day concert traditionally takes place in the month leading up to King’s Day. The initiative was launched in 1985 by Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus. Since 2014, the concert has been organised in the municipality where the Royal Family celebrates King’s Day. On Monday 27 April, the Royal Family will attend the King’s Day celebrations in Dokkum.

The King’s Day Concert will be broadcast on 27 April 2026 at 8.05 pm on NPO2.
